Lake Lanier currently serves as the only drinking water source for nearly 1 million people.  It has been a wonderful resource and will continue to be, but not without limitations.  The lake is controlled by the whims of the Federal Government and disputes with neighboring states as well as Environmental groups.  This often leads to watering restrictions, which create funding shortfalls.

I believe alternative (not replacement), options should be seriously explored to make up for Lake Lanier shortfall during times of drought.   Our future as a community relies on dependable sources of water.

I have first-hand experience with our water issues while working for Gwinnett Water Resources, as a member of the Gwinnett Water & Sewerage Authority, and as the Authority’s representative on the Gwinnett Water Sources Feasibility Committee.
